Her eyes were wide open and her feet were halfway out of the place she didn't want to be right now. Something felt so wrong as she looked into the tunnel she made out of camp. Everytime she saw the warriors come in from patrols they had worry in their eyes and when she snuck out all she could smell was fox. She was careful but it still felt odd, as if an impending doom was coming for her.
All of the cats in the camp were asleep, if they weren't then they were either taking turns guarding the camp or eating their fresh-kill before they went on one of the daily patrols. She was already halfway out when she smelled the fox, she thought it was stale but all she could do was watch for it as she padded along. Her body seemed so small under the tall forest that she walked in. The undergrowth snatched at her paws many times. She shook her paws a few times to get it off. Her sights were set for a world from before, all she wanted to do was see the large oak Liftedstar had shown her before; and the place where he fell asleep under the limb that had fallen on him.
In no time she made it to her destination, having already memorized the path. She smiled as she looked up at the tall tree and remembered when she had tried to climb the giant thing, it was a scary experience, but it was a good deal of fun. Quickly her eyes searched for the tunnel under the tree's roots that the other kits and apprentices had told her about. When she did she smiled again and was about to crawl in when she saw him. A dark ginger tom sat starring at her crossly from across the border. She sat up and looked at him as well, "Who are you," she asked happily.
He looked around the dark nursery and yawned a bit. Really, he wasn't as tired as he should be, probably because his secret training had made him faster and stronger than before. ShadowClan will definitely be impressed, he thought with a grinned that wiped around his face with an evil aroma. He sat up and then fully got up to find his way from the camp, once again off to train for himself.
His eyes were locked onto the path as he went, wary to all his senses in the dark pine forest. He knew where he was going, his favorite spot that had a slight overlook on some of ThunderClan territory. In no time at all he made it there, his muscles flexing as he felt the sun on his dark ginger back. He knew he should have brought Icekit along. Oh well, he thought, If she wishes to come she may follow me[]. At once he crouched and was ready to pounce when he saw her.
A pretty cream colored she-cat stumbling on a path she seemed to know. She was a bit clumsy and he snickered a bit to himself, "ThunderClan cats must all be full of fox-dung." He stopped when he saw the sun hit her felt, so beautiful. At that moment he shook himself fiercely, I can't think that way if I am to become leader of ShadowClan. His eyes watched on until she starred back at him. He froze at once, deciding to watch her crossly as she spoke. The choice he thought to make was just walk away but he found his curiosity about her grow. His voice boomed as he spoke, "I am Redkit," he growled a bit as he spoke, "Soon to be leader of ShadowClan."
She giggled a bit at this response, Leader of ShadowClan he says, she thought happily. Her dark brown paws led her closer to the border, wanting to have a better look at him. She smiled as she looked on at him, "Last time I checked you were on a kit," she teased.
He hissed a bit at what she said to him. Who was she to call him that? His lips curled into a snarl as he looked at her, his heart pounding for a bit as he watched her draw closer. With a deafening hiss he spoke, "Last time I checked you were a kit as well," he lashed out with his words angrily, "I have every right to say such things, I am faster, stronger, and smarter than you. To make things better I am a ShadowClan cat!"
Clawkit's fur bristled as he spoke to her. It was one thing to call her slow, weak, and stupid but ShadowClan was no better than ThunderClan! Her eyes flashed with anger, "What makes you think that ShadowClan is so much better than ThunderClan?" Her teeth showed to match his, "You don't look very strong to me!"
He hissed even more, his tail up ready for a fight. What she said were fighting words! His claws unsheathed as he spoke on to her, "You ThunderClan cats are nothing but scum," he hissed, "The lowest kind of all! I would be surprised if a vulture would even want to pick at your dead body. You keep going on and you'll see how strong I am!"
Her hiss came as she unsheathed her paws and glared defiantly at him. With her fur blazing with fury she went on, "You take that back you low life piece of crow food!" She crouched and starred up at him with hatred, "We'll see about that!" Immediately she pounced and struck him down, her claws going into his face.
"Ne-" His reply was cut off by the furious she-cat's pounce. He had no time to dodge but he knew what he was doing now. The only problem was everytime he got her she would get him right back. Blood was oozing down both of them now and the hatred in her heart was leading her on and his body was being overpowered by the she-cat's brute strength. No! he thought woefully, I can't be beaten by a ThunderClan cat, especially not her! It was too late though, she had pinned him down and she was panting heavily with victory and hatred.
She glared at him as she held him down, her claws going into his shoulders. Her eyes flashed with hatred for him but something inside of her didn't want to hate him. Clawkit hopped off and started to pad away, "You're not worth it," she meowed, giving one last glance to the tom.
He was surprised to see her get off. Admiration shot through him, though he would never admit it. He gave her a longing look and then looked away. When his eyes went back to her he made a slight smile, "Are you sure you're not a ShadowClan cat?" Really, he wanted her to be a ShadowClan cat for a reason other than fighting he felt.
She rounded at him and hissed again, her fur blazing again as she spoke, "No! I am not a ShadowClan cat!" she hissed with thorns backing her words up, "I never want to be one for that matter! I never want to be as low life as you!"
Instead of lashing out he sighed as he looked at her. Though her words hurt, they only hurt coming from that pretty she-cat. He sighed again and approached her slightly, "Who are you?" His voice had changed into, now, pure curiosity.
Her ears pricked in surprise as the tom spoke to her so naturally. For a moment she backed away, not wanting him to come and closer but then she moved forward to be closer to him, "My name is Clawkit." Her heart pounded as she told him this, taking in his musty scent.
Redkit felt his heart pound and could hear the onward thumping go to his ears. He felt as if his chest would let his heart out as she came closer. His fur was flat as he sat down, giving his chest a few quick licks before he spoke, "Clawkit you say?" He then lowered his voice into a whisper, "It's nice to meet you Clawkit."
She smiled a bit at the change in the tom and went forward. It was clear that he didn't want anyone to know that he had befriended a ThunderClan cat, probably not even StarClan if he had to whisper. With a slight nudge she came closer and licked the side of his cheek, "It's nice to meet you too," she whispered happily, "Redkit."
His heart pounded even more as she licked him on the cheek. He smiled back for a moment and then went back to himself. Why did he feel so weird around this she-cat? Shouldn't he be chasing her off by now? He didn't complain, he just sat there as she sat down as well. So beautiful, so fierce, and so lovable all in the same, he was a kit and he was in love.
