To start off, let's look at the bright side of things. After all, one would hope that Sandfeather's good traits outnumber his bad ones.
One of Sandfeather's most prominent attributes is his desire to lead. He is not necessarily ambitious in a bad way, it is just one of those things that feels right to him. Being at the bottom of the ranks goes against what he knows about himself -- that he is a natural-born leader.
Another one of his traits that leans toward a positive light -- his animated nature. He is a rather happy fellow most of the time, and tries to be friendly if at all possible. He is very neat when it comes to the safety or well-being of others and himself.
Sandfeather is a rather intelligent cat, and he picks up on new information quickly. His brain is always working, and this is part of what makes him so careful -- his imagination is active, without a doubt. This is also what makes him inquisitive. He wants to learn new things all the time, about the world around him, the cats that surround him. He longs to understand everything. However, he will often bring up questions about things unrelated, because he is observant. He is easily distracted and as hard as he tried to stay focused, there may always be that one thing that keeps irking him until he puzzles out the answer.
Now, every cat has his own number of quirks that make him imperfect. Sandfeather is no different. All through his life he has been a sore loser. He does not like to lose -- it gives him a squirming feeling inside. Usually he is able to contain himself, but after a loss he may be in a sour mood.
Sandfeather has often been at the tail end of enough hoaxes and lies to know that he is very gullible -- because he is friendly, and he wants to believe and trust everyone who is close to him. However, it is not something that he can stop being. It makes him whole and no matter how hard he tries, he can't make himself think twice about trusting a friend. His trust in his Clanmates makes him a great addition to the Clan, although he may not always be so fond of this trait soon after another prank.
At the worst of times, Sandfeather is a bit arrogant. He simply wants to do well and wants to be proud of himself, and he wants his friends and family to be proud of him too -- but sometimes he takes it too far, without realising it.
Sandfeather is far from perfect, yes, but it's easy to love someone who finds you easy to love.

The base of Sandfeather's fur is a rich goldenrod in color, and it coats his body not-quite-completely. A darker, more earthy, shade of gold also splays across his body, over the goldenrod. Across his legs, tail and face, the earthier shade is arranged into neat and precise tabby stripes. His back, however, is much different: instead of tabby stripes, the color is simply splotched across the area in a disorganised mess.
The white of Sandfeather's fur is not pure white, but somewhat creamy in color. Because of this "discoloration", it sometimes appears as if he does not clean these parts of his fur well. White mainly resides upon the underside of his body - belly and neck in particular, although the lower half of his muzzle is also painted the color. Where white meets golden, the transition is not instant, but gradual - the two shades create a gradient between them, so much so that it is sometimes difficult to discover where exactly the white ends and the golden begins.
Although Sandfeather does not have the prettiest eyes out of all the Clans, or the most "stunning" or "captivating" or "bright", his eyes are a nice, dull amber shade that compliments his pelt. They are somewhat almond in shape, and set a bit too far apart to be perfect.
Sandfeather is a tall cat, to put it simply. He is not able to tower over other cats, but he does have noticeable hight over the "average". Despite his size, Sandfeather is fairly light-weight, mostly because of his slim, almost thin, body. His height is mainly made up by his long legs, which taper off into his four small paws. Because of his size, Sandfeather is both agile and fast - he is not clumsy or whatever else can be assumed by one of his size. However, he has very little weight and muscle, and is therefore not the best fighter in the Clan.

i was, i remember -- *
Sandfeather, along with his sister Goldenleaf, were born to a ThunderClan mother and a kittypet father - a pairing against the warrior code, but love was stronger than their mother's belief in the warrior code, it seems. When she found out she was pregnant, she kept knowledge of the father to herself: the other warriors simply assumed the father was the warrior who had been infatuated with her since apprenticehood. When her kits were born, however, they knew something was amiss - Sandfeather and Goldenleaf looked neither like their mother or the warrior they assumed was her mate. She remained stubborn in her decision to keep their father a secret, however, and soon this problem was forgotten.
Goldenleaf and Sandfeather were inseparable during kithood. Like two peas in a pod, they did everything together: in fact, they were never found apart from each other. Their personalities differed greatly - Goldenleaf was shy and quiet, while Sandfeather was loud and friendly - but that only seemed to make them closer, each playing a part as a whole.
Sandfeather was never fond of the idea of becoming a warrior and fighting. The stories the elders told of battles and glory didn't make him excited and want to be an apprentice as soon as possible - in fact, he wished the elders didn't tell those stories at all, as they only made the idea of becoming a warrior worse. He'd never thought of becoming a medicine cat - it was never really talked about, as most kits became warriors - and so Sandfeather began to think he wasn't suited to Clan life.
Their mother told them they were half-Clanned shortly before her two kits were to become apprentices. Sandfeather and Goldenleaf were informed of how she'd met their father and fallen in love with him - and of how she'd refused to tell the Clan, knowing it was against the warrior code. The two kits had heard the story before - their mother used to tell it to them, but she had always talked about it as if they were some other two cats in a forbidden romance. Goldenleaf refused to believe it, thinking it was just a variation of the story, although Sandfeather believed it instantly - any fullblooded Clan cat wouldn't hate the idea of being a warrior.
As he didn't believe he was suited to Clan life, Sandfeather fled to become a kittypet - perhaps not the wisest decision, but Sandfeather thought it would be best for the Clan and himself. He was found and taken in by a pair of twolegs with two kits of their own, which continuously reminded him of Goldenleaf - he'd never been away from her for this long (or at all, for that matter). The twoleg kits called Sandfeather by the name of "Cheese", which he shortly learned to respond to.
Goldenleaf found Sandfeather - and, to this day, he still doesn't know how. She discovered which twolegs he was living with and paid a visit to her brother. Goldenleaf told him she had refused to become an apprentice until she at least tried to bring him back: this made Sandfeather feel extremely guilty for leaving his sister for a life that wasn't half as good as being in a Clan. After she told him she missed him and wasn't the same without her brother, he needed no persuading to go back to the Clan.
When Sandfeather came back to the Clan, his opinion on becoming a warrior didn't change. But, then again, what else could he do? After being pressured by his sister, Sandfeather told the leader that he wasn't interested in becoming a warrior. They offered him the position of medicine cat apprentice instead, which he took cautiously, as he was unsure whether this would be any better.
Sandfeather and Goldenleaf finally became apprentices - Goldenleaf a warrior apprentice, and Sandfeather the medicine cat apprentice. Because of their different lives, the twins had to spend much of their time apart. This frustrated Sandfeather, especially after the kittypet incident, and he desperately wanted to spend more time with his sister. His mentor, however, was not willing to let Sandfeather run off to see his sister, and so didn't allow him to: the medicine cat had known he would have to get used to being away from Goldenleaf.
Goldenleaf became a warrior before Sandfeather was given his medicine cat name - something he should have expected but made him slightly envy his sister all the same. The medicine cat assured him he would get his name eventually, and just had to wait - medicine cat training took longer than a warrior's - which settled him, but only slightly.
