Paws were hurrying along, trying to find his way along the path. So far his scent had traveled through RiverClan territory and then ShadowClan. It was crazy how his sister made him pad around, though really he was just coming cause he cared. He yawned a bit and smiled as the scent of ThunderClan wafted to him. Cricket stopped behind his sister as the reached the small road. He knew though it wasn't busy, she wouldn't take chances.
Bright brown-hazel eyes starred searchingly around. She hadn't told her brother what or who they were searching for, she just made him come. They had been traveling along the lake, a fox scent chased them off to a safer location for now. Days before she thought she had seen her father and thought it was a dream until she found his scent, leading farther into here. Honeybee didn't want to upset her brother by telling him what she thought; he would probably say she was crazy. Her paws were about to cross when she heard a voice and saw a blaze of black fur and then a glimmering monster. Fear struck her and she lept forward to try and save the tom before her. When she heard a terrified yowl behind her and saw blood she thought she had died but then she saw it was different blood. Her eyes swelled, "Oh no!"
Liftedstar yawned, it would be time for Clawkit's apprentice's ceremony, once she was older of course. He was very proud of her for growing so strong and fast. She was very enthusiastic and ready to learn, and sometimes annoying. Many times she had annoyed the warriors and other cats in the Clan by bothering them and sneaking out. He had to admit she was extremely well at stalking, which would make her an excellent hunter. Thinking of hunting, he got up and padded from his den.
It had been a while and he had caught much for the morning in New leaf. Hunger burst into his stomach as he saw a nice juicy squirrel. Not too much, but just enough to get by. He got into his crouch and licked his lips readily. Soon he pounced and got to the squirrel; he miscalculated his pounced and slipped. The squirrel ran and he narrowed his eyes, he had to get it before it went over to ShadowClan territory. His paws went and his heart was pounding. Before he could think he saw a monster out of the corner of his eye. No.... he thought regretfully, This can't be. Darkness and pain engulfed his body, cold all over and then he opened his eyes to see the dark ginger tom standing before him. He stood up slowly to look him in his bright amber eyes.
Burningstar watched in pain his son loose a life. Another one and so soon, but fate had its way with life. He sighed and looked into his son's bright blue eyes, "Liftedstar, you have lost another life," he meowed slowly and carefully, "You have lost your eighth life, you are on your last life." He starred at his son caringly, "Use your last life wisely," he meowed as he stepped over to his son and said lowly, "I know you will."
A sweet scent wafted over him as the dark ginger pelt was gone. When he awoke he looked to see pretty brown-hazel eyes looking down at him worriedly. He smiled a bit and tried to stand on his white paws but felt pain strike over him.
His green eyes were wide with fear as his sister ran out into the road. He had never felt this afraid in his whole life. Why had his sister ran out for a stranger? Before when he saw the squirrel run by, he pounced on it and not seen her start to run out so he could stop her. When he thought of her dead he couldn't stand it. He ran out after the monster left and went up to his sister and checked her all over for injuries; when he thought nothing was wrong he yowled, "Honeybee! What were you thinking?"
Her eyes starred at the tom for the longest time. When the black tom couldn't get up she bent down and helped him up. She winced in pain a bit, knowing that she hurt her back right leg helping him. With a breathe, she sucked in the pain as she spoke, trying not to make her brother worry, "Are you ok? I thought you were dead." Worry filled through her along with a serious glint in her eyes. The pain in her leg was severe but she hid it very well. Her eyes flashed to her brother as he spoke, "He could have died Cricket," she hissed back, "We need to help those in need. Go and get that squirrel, it was his prey in the first place and then help me with him, we need to get him back.
He growled a bit as he nodded to his sister. Slowly he padded to the squirrel, grumbling as he went. The hiss of his sister made him hurry and pick up the squirrel and then take the other side of the black tom. His long white fur touched the ground, stained with green as usual. The black of the tom's fur and the white of his clashed as he helped hold the tom up.
Liftedstar looked at the she-cat and smiled, "I'm fine, thank you very much," he meowed, "I would have died without you." He stopped for a moment and then went on, "No," he meowed slowly, "I can get back on my own, thank you very much though." He didn't want them to know where ThunderClan was as he started to pad away, until he started to fall. Oh no.
Quickly he pushed him up with all his strength. He held him there and sighed at the tom, "Don't argue with her." He sighed as his sister padded over and take the other side.
He nodded in understanding of what the muscular white tom was saying. With a sigh he let them help him along to camp. Step after step, each as painful as the next.
She nodded to her brother as he lifted him on one side. Her leg hurt so bad she didn't no what to do except grin and bare it. As she was about to take a step forward she looked at the black tom again, "You will have to tell us the way though," she meowed, "We have never been in ThunderClan territory before."
