Liftedstar sighed as he padded out of the nursery with Clawkit behind him. He couldn't believe that it was him taking her out into the forest but if she was with him she would be safe. Halfway out of the camp he felt tiny paws pounce on her tail with no regret. With a long swipe he dropped her, purring as he looked back to see the cross look on her face.
When they reached the tall tree he looked up and smiled, "This my dear is the large oak tree. Never-" he stopped as he saw her halfway up the tree, "cli...mb." He hissed, "Stay right where you are, I'm coming to get you!."
His claws went into the tree as he hurried up the tree. All he saw was her scrambling out on a limb, high above the ground. For a second he paused to find his footing and then pounced. He snatched her up and was down in a flash, when he laid her down he sighed, "Clawkit! Never do that again! You could've-" he stopped again and looked up as he heard crackling noises, "Oh no."
He lept forward and pushed her out of the way and then heard the cracking first. Then he heard the terrified mewl and felt his body grow warm and then cold. Liftedstar closed his eyes once more and looked on into his father's eyes.
Burningstar starred at his son, he lost a life so soon after the other. It was a good cause but he didn't want to see his son join StarClan just yet. With a long sigh he spoke, "You have lost your seventh life," he meowed slowly, "You have only two lives left, use them wisely my son."
He starred at his father and nodded as he disappeared. As he opened his eyes to see Clawkit he spoke, "I will." Slowly he crawled out of the branch and picked up Clawkit, "Let's go."
At first she looked down and then she smiled, her eyes bright with amazement, "Will what?" She questioned bouncily, "Never mind that, I thought you were dead but you were just sleeping! Why did you fall asleep under that branch?"
