XMaskedXBanditX ooc:I thought the title was creative....
She wore a masquerade to hide who she was. It was an act she put on, her family saw through it, but she couldn't break free. Her eyes looked up to the towering oak tree before her. It's enriched green leaves and brown bouldering bark was had a meaning of life. Something that she had yet to live. Her parents were ashamed of her, but her older brother theifpaw was always receiving complements of how good of an apprentice he is and what a great warrior he would make. Sometimes she wondered if she was worth being a Thunderclan cat.
Her small white paws stepped in a pool of water from the previous nights rain. Perhaps she should be a medicine cat, even though her dream was to be a leader, she was gentle and softspoken perhaps a dream and goal had to be broken once in awhile. She was so out of place, like a snowflake in june. Maskedpaw...perhaps the name fit more than she thought.
Her main pelt was a chocolate brown, her eyes the clearest of blue. Around her eyes, and just her eyes was a mask of black. Her paws were white like snow, same with the tip of her tail. Her eyes were glittering and she was beauty as if starclan had given her a gift. However she found herself hideous.....and slightly unattractive because of her shy personality. Her ears twitched and she looked up. A familar clan mate near by."Hello who's there?

The black apprentice watched as a pretty she-cat padded quietly on the forest floor below him. Her chocolate fur gave away who she was before her sweet scent even reached him. It was Maskedpaw, the shy and quiet apprentice. Anger coursed through him as he thought of the way the others in his clan treated her, it wasn't fair and he was determined to befriend her. If Banditpaw was her only friend then so be it, at least he would care for her.
He jumped silently from the tree branch that served as his perch as the she-cat's clear blue eyes gazed up. He landed softly in front of her, his emerald eyes locking with her light sapphire eyes. "Its just me," he meowed softly, his voice a whisper in the silent forest.

She stepped back as the apprentice jumped down in front of her. SHe lifted her fore paw into the air in surprise, and let it relax again. It was Baditpaw. One of the more popular and outgoing apprentices. All the warriors wanted to mentor him. IT was like being picked last for a game with all the others, and of course she was the last one to be picked.
The words he spoke were just a whisper. "Its just me..."She let it linger in the air for a moment before responding herself, however she didn't have much to say really. She never did. She usually just agreed with the other apprentices or warriors with a simple nod of her head. "oh...Hi banditpaw..."

He watched her reaction carefully, noting how she stepped back in surprise. He wished more then anything to be her friend and he grew sad as he saw an almost hidden pain in her eyes. He would be proud of her even if others weren't and he would encourage her to follow her dreams. "Hi Maskedpaw, its a beautiful morning, don't you think? Would you like to go hunting with me?" He hoped she would say yes and he stood quietly waiting for her answer.

Maskedpaw smiled warmly. Her pearly white fangs sparkled in the morning light. She looked around, birds were flying about, a mouse scuttled across the floor picking up small seeds probably to feed its family."You know its funny, by hunting we are taking away someones family, yet its differen't when one of us dies...." She shrugged her shoulders and sprung forward dipping her fangs into the fur of the mouse."Of course I will hunt with you. " She mewed softly.

"Yes, its difficult knowing you could be destroying a family, but I suppose that's just how life was meant to be. And that is why we give thanks to Starclan for the life that we have taken." The forest fell into silence for a moment before he spoke again. "Where would you like to go hunting?"

Her eyes scanned the forest, a blue jay flew above landing in a small nest above her in a large oak tree limb."Near Shadowclan's boarder there are a ton of jays and thrushes, however if you are looking for rabbits Windclan cats are always chasing them over. However voles and mice are popular near riverclan. However squirrels are running around in our own boarders.

Banditpaw smiled as Maskedpaw began to relax. He took in the mixed scents of the forest, wondering where prey was the most abundant. "Lead the way."

The she-cat nodded. Lead the way. The words lingered in her mind for awhile. She didn't want to start any trouble. "Foxstar and creekstar probably wouldn't be very happy if we hunted near there territory. However windclan and thunderclan have been friends since the dawn of time. I'm sure Spiderstar wouldn't come to nasty conclusions. So we can hunt near there as well as in the thickset of our forest."She mewed while walking.

The black tom followed Maskedpaw as she lead the way through the forest. Whenever her pelt brushed against a leaf or a branch her sweet scent hit Banditpaw, each time becoming stronger. The undergrowth was thick and green, prey scurried along almost silently as the cats passed by them.

Maskedpaw turned around, blinking her blue eyes....a warm smile started forming on her muzzle."Well you wanted to hunt didn't you? You didn't just didn't bring me out here to chit chat?"

Banditpaw blinked several times when Maskedpaw spoke, feeling like an idiot for not doing anything. "Yeah, let's get started." He raised his head to drag air into his open mouth, seeking the scent of prey. His ears swiveled at the sound of something small moving at his right side. A fat, plump mouse was looking for food a few tail lengths away.
He slipped silently into the hunter's crouch and began to move toward it, careful not to make a sound. Just as he was about to pounce the wind blew his scent at the mouse and it started to run for shelter. Recklessly he jumped from his hidden position hoping to grab it before the mouse escaped. His hope began to fall when he realized that he would land short. Stretching out his fore legs his claws barely caught the mouse by its tail.
It wasn't enough though and the mouse scurried away. But luck was on his side. A short distance away was a thrush that hadn't noticed the commotion. His sprinted toward it, his claws digging into its flesh before it could take flight. He killed it swiftly with a bite to its neck as he thanked Starclan for its life.

The she-cat couldn't help but laugh at t the tom's attempt. her eyes bounced with amusement and her tail twitched lightly. She scanned the clearing and saw nothing. But her nostrils flared at the scent of a vole."Bushes on the left..." Hunting was one of the better things she was good at, along with tracking. Fighting was one of her worse skills but she was still somewhat decent.
She bunched up her hind legs and sprung into the bushes only to come back moments later with a vole clamped firmly in her jaws. She dropped it onto the forest floor and licked her muzzle. "How much should we bring back?"

Banditpaw turned to watch her make a clean kill, thinking for a moment about her question. When he had left earlier the fresh kill pile was pretty well stocked but it wouldn't hurt to bring prey back. "I'm not sure. We shouldn't have to hunt for too long though."

She raised her gaze and nodded. If the prey stock was nearly filled she didn't understand why he wanted to go hunting with her in the first place. The thoughts ran through her head swiftly. She never had a dream come true...but she smiled warmly. A sparkle a lit in her blue eyes. maybe her mother was right dreams do come true...when you meet someone new."Lets go back to camp banditpaw"
