He turned back to face Echopaw, his head tilted, wondering what was going on in her head. It made his fur itch, not knowing.

.:;It's time to forget about the past To wash away what happened last Hide behind an empty face... ;;she felt eyes on her, making her skin crawl. Glancing over, she saw him sitting, head tilted, watching her. She closed her eyes briefly, and when she opened them, they were blank. Empty. Carefully guarded. "We should get back," she said shortly. "Before they wonder where we are."

Crowpaw watched as her eyes grew blank again. "They probably didn't miss us at all. But I supose you're right."

.:;Wait until it fades to black Ride into the sunset Would I lie to you? Well, I've got something to say... ;;not daring to look at him, she stood and padded silently towards the camp, and then to the apprentices' den. OOC:: eesh, that sucked. no muse.

Crowpaw followed Echopaw back to camp, hoping that now he would finally manage to get some much needed sleep. As he settled down in the apprentice's den his eyes fell on her and he knew sleep would never come.

.:;I see you lying next to me. With words I thought I’d never speak. Awake and unafraid. Asleep or dead? ;;Curled into a tight ball, she wrapped her tail over her nose--it was starting to get cold. She could smell frost in the air some mornings. Gray eyes watched Crowpaw warily, and a shiver ran down Echopaw's spine.
Don't look at him. Don't look at him. Don'tlookathim! ;;Her eyes darted away, focusing on the shadows thrown from his body, and from her own twitching tail. Indistinct black forms, barely visible in the almost nonexistent pre-dawn light. She shifted slightly, trying to get more comfortable position so that she could sleep, but her tense body refused to relax. She wouldn't be sleeping tonight.
But I can at least make it look like I am.

Crowpaw watched as she curled into a ball. She seemed to be asleep yet her breathing had not slowed and deepened.

.:;So shut your eyes kiss me goodbye and sleep. Just sleep... ;;eyes shut, Echopaw struggled to keep from twitching. She felt like he was watching her, and it made her pelt itch. It felt like there were spiders crawling all over her. She shuddered once, unable to stop the shiver running through her body.
Oh, screw it. I don't care. ;;she sighed softly, warily, and shifted slightly so that she was laying half on her back, eyes still shut. Finally relaxing, one paw twitched as she sank into the welcoming, blank unconsciousness that sleep brought.

Crowpaw watched as she finally settled into sleep. He closed his eyes, trying to do the same, but gave up. He padded silently from the den to sit outside and watch the stars.

.:;What did I say? What did I say to put Sister to Sleep? And fall awake and die. ;;deep in sleep, Echopaw twitched. For the first time since she was a kit, dreams plagued her sleep. Images flashed through her unconscious mind, making her fur stand on end and her claws slide out.
;;she thrashed in her sleep, lashing out at the air with her claws and hissing softly. A twig stabbed her in the side and she jumped into the air, ears back, fur standing on end and sticking in all directions. Heart thumping, she gazed around with wide eyes.
Nothing. Why did I think there was something here? ;;her gaze drifted to where Crowpaw was sitting outside. Self-consciously, she twisted around to smooth her ruffled fur. There was no use in trying to sleep again, so she padded silently out of the den and sat a few tail-lengths behind him.

"Can't sleep?" Those were his only words as Echopaw exited the den to sit under the stars. He glanced at her before retuning his gaze to the dark sky.

.:;Bleed these colors open wide, Burning blues from butterflies. Flying faster through the night, Until the orange of morning light. ;;She nodded slowly. "Yeah," she murmured. Her gaze locked on the sky, waiting for it to turn gray, waiting for the stars to disappear. When it grew light, there would be others awake--activity would fill the camp (sort of), and she'd be free to disappear.

Crowpaw watched as the sky began to lighten. Perhaps now he would be able to train with his mentor. But then again, he might to busy, he was the leader of Shadowclan after all.
