Some deep intuition told her what was coming and she found herself ducking deftly away from her mentor's outstretched paws. Quick agile paws propelled her away from Poisonpetal, and Rainpaw found herself crouching close to the ground, about a tail length away from where her mentor had landing. The adrenaline still pumping through her blood, and her heart racing fast. [/color]

The calico she-cat spun in place before launching herself back at her apprentice. Before reaching Rainpaw she lept into the air so that she landed behind her where she struck out with her paw.

Startled by the sudden attack, Rainpaw froze not sure what to do. Her eyes darted back and forth wildly, trying to predict where her mentor would strike from. Trying to make herself less of a target, she curled up, making her body as small as possible. Her ears twitched nervously listening for the tall tell sounds of a paw swiping. Then in a risky move she rolled to the left, hopefully avoiding the attack from Poisonpetal.[/size]

She had seen Rainpaw's muscles tense and anticipated her move, landing a hard blow to her ear. At least Rainpaw was trying and she had to admit that the new apprentice was doing fairly well. She remained crouched, waiting for Rainpaw to do something and hopefully she would attack. Avoidance was good but it wouldn't let you win the battle.

Breath rattled in her lungs and her heart beat to an erratic fast paced rhythm. Adrenaline pumped through her veins. When she saw Poisonpetal crouched on the ground, she took the opportunity to attack. Spinning around and leaping into the air, she hoped to catch her mentor unawares by pouncing onto her.

Poisonpetal saw her apprentice coming and struck out with a paw in hopes to send her crashing to the ground.

Rainpaw xx[/i] Somehow miraculously Rainpaw was able to see her mentors paw strike out. She twisted in the air, hoping to avoid it and at least land on her feet. She ending up landing on Poisonpetal's side, paws extended. Most of her body weight balanced in the front. Then suddenly crashed into the ground, rolling onto her side.

Poisonpetal moved in a flash, rising to her paws before standing over her fallen apprentice. "That was good, you almost got me there, your balance was just off. That's enough for today, lets head back to camp."

Rainpaw xx[/i] "ok" she meowed. " thats fine." She got up from off the ground, shaking the dirt from her fur. Her paws began to take her back in the direction of camp, not even bothering to glance back at her mentor. ***CLOSED
