.:;It was a lie when they smiled And said "you won’t feel a thing"...Pale green eyes stared out at the mountains. The pale tabby warrior sat silently, her tiny form almost completely hidden in the long grass. She looked like the WindClanner she was, but taken to the extreme—tiny and slim to the point of being unnaturally skinny, with ultra-long legs and tail.
The tabby twitched constantly, glancing anxiously over her shoulder every so often. Jumpy? Anxious? Terrified? Paranoid? Yeah, that pretty much sums her up. Brokenwings has never been calm or self-assured, but that was pushed to extreme paranoia when she became with-kit as a young apprentice.
And who was the father of these kits? None other than her own mentor. She had been apprenticed to him just after he received his Warrior name. And what did he do when he found out that she would be having his kits? He disappeared. Ran off to who knows where. No one had seen him in over seven moons.
She sighed softly, and glanced over her shoulder again.

"... HOLLYFROST As Brokenwings looked over her shoulder Hollyfrost appeared over the rise. 'Are you looking for someone?' she asked, sidling up with the grace of any Windclan lady. Her pelt was sleek in the light. She hoped she hadn't startled Brokenwings when she had come up in the opposite direction of which the cat was looking. Ever since her awkward transition into warriorhood all her ease seemed to drift away and she had been left with frightening cats in her own clan. She didn't mean to, really. 'You don't mind me being here, do you?' Of course Brokenwings didn't mind her being there. Even if she did it wouldn't have mattered. Hollyfrost was Cricketstar's daughter. And therefore, she was taken as a royal brat. Thats what had made Hollyfrost's ceremony to warriorhood so awkward. The girl was only twelve moons and had been promoted to warriorhood at an exceedingly young age, not because of her heritage, but because of her skill. Her mother had, had nothing to do with it! Her mentor had clearly stated that she was as ready as any warrior was. It hurt her just to think of it. But beyond all else, Hollyfrost was strong. Her cheeks flamed against the nippy air as she remembered herself letting loose a small, yet proud yowl as the rest of the clan was silent as she received her warrior name. She suddenly felt small and empty inside. You're Cricketstar's daughter. A girl known for having tough skin. Don't worry about it. she told herself. But she did. She did worry. More than anything, she wanted the support of her clan. She forced a quick, well-practiced smile. ..."

.:;I still remember the world From the eyes of a child Slowly those feelings Were clouded by what I know now...”Are you looking for someone? Brokenwings jumped, startled by Hollyfrost's words—she had thought that she was alone. She shook her head quickly. ”No,” she said quickly. ”I'm not looking for anyone.”
This was a lie, and she knew it—most of WindClan probably knew it, actually. They knew that she still watched the mountains. They knew that she was still waiting for her former mate/mentor.
”You don't mind me being here, do you? She didn't answer Hollyfrost's second question—she shouldn't have to. Did she mind? Of course. She didn't like being around others. She knew that they judged her. She knew that whenever they looked at her, they saw the young apprentice who was made with-kit by none other than her own mentor.
Her pale gaze returned to the mountains. She knew that he had gone in that direction... She just didn't know exactly where he was. Or if he was even still alive.
Her ears burned in embarrassment as she glanced at Hollyfrost. The young she-cat had been just a kit when Brokenwings had been in the Nursery as an apprentice. Just five moons old. Did she remember? Even if she didn't, she'd surely heard of Brokenwings' time as an eight-moon-old queen. Heard of her kits, Mudkit and Rainkit, who hadn't survived their first day alive.

"... HOLLYFROST Hollyfrost, being who she was, had of course heard the story but had never thought much of it. 'Oh. Alright then.' she felt inclined to say more, but what to say? 'He'll come back you know.' she blurted, loosing her calm, leadership-type calmness. She realized that she was digging her own grave here, but she had no problem digging it a little deeper. Just not now. She wanted to gain the support of her clanmates, prying into their lives was not the way. 'If its Starclan's will, of course.' she said softly. 'And why would they want us unhappy?' In the deep recess of her mind she felt a strong connection to this girl. But how? Why? She had nothing, absolutely nothing in common with her. Except perhaps, the judgement that weighted both their shoulders... ..."

.:;We are broken. What must we do to restore Our innocence And all the promise we adored ? Give us life again 'Cause we just wanna be whole.”He'll come back you know.” Brokenwings' eyes narrowed slightly, and the fur on her narrow shoulders pricked up. She almost snapped back, almost wanted Hollyfrost to hurt like she did, but the other warrior's mouth was already opening again.
If its Starclan's will, of course. And why would they want us unhappy?” Brokenwings shook her head. ”He's not coming back,” she whispered. ”He hasn't been seen in seven moons. His... My kits would have been apprentices this moon or the next, and he hasn't come back to see if they're even alive.” She shook her head. "No," she murmured. "He's not coming back. I want him to... Oh, StarClan knows I want him to. But he's not."
She gazed at Hollyfrost, wishing she had the words to describe the pain of knowing that her mate—the tom who had impregnated her when she was hardly more than a kit—had disappeared, and was never coming back. Or the sheer agony of seeing her kits die. Hollyfrost couldn't possibly know what that was like... But somehow, Brokenwings still felt like she could trust the other warrior. True, she had a bit of a reputation for being a princess. But she knew how hard it was when others judged you simply based on stories they heard.

"... HOLLYFROST Just hearing the cat talk made Holleyfrost's heart ache. 'I'm sorry. I know it hurts. I didn't, and still don't, know how much. But I'm still sorry, not for you though...' She pursed her lips, her last words had sounded a little harsh. 'I'm sorry for him, I'm sorry that he's missing his kids growing, and I'm sorry that he's choosing to do so.' she explained thoughtfully. She felt a sharp pang in her chest. Sure, she was Cricketstar's daughter, and people knew her for it, but growing up with her mom as a leader meant that she could never have that protective shadow that others had, had from their mothers. Her mother had to be completely impartial to her, and only a mother when they were hidden from view. 'I don't know my dad, either.' her tail slouched to the dusty ground. 'And I know you miss him, but if he's not coming back you should focus on more important things, no matter how hard it is. Focus on your life now.' And then she added with some resolute, 'And I'll help you in whatever way I can. I promise.' But in her stomach she felt foolish. She was a child, what could she possibly do to help this girl? ..." Cricketstar bit her lip. Her tail flicked irritably back and forth. You look like me but act like your father..." she thought silently to herself. How can you not know who your father is and who your siblings might be? Cricketstar wanted to jump up and announce it to her, But she did not want to be caught evesdropping. She thought silently for a moment and then nodded. Yes it was time to tell her."Hollyfrost." Her tone was assertive but not a leader tone. The tone of a mother."I was thinking back in my den. I went to find you in the warriors nest and you were not there so I assumed you were out on the moor. I think its time you knew who your father is...." She coughed and looked her daughter in the eye." Once I tell you, you can choose whether or not to judge him or if you want to meet him and your siblings...." She paused and took a deep breath." Your father is Mallowfang. Deputy of Shadowclan...whom you have known your whole life as an enemy. Your siblings...Rosefreeze of Shadowclan and Brackenflight of Shadowclan. ANd if you REALLY most know I have a younger sister in Thunderclan...Maskednight..." She stopped and waited."Do you want to meet your father and siblings?" She paused and nodded breif to Brokenwings pretending she had not heard the conversation.
